The TPRI consists of two components: a screening section intended to help identify students who have not developed critical reading skills and an inventory section that helps gather more data to match reading instruction to student needs.
Since Sarah is a grade 1 student, the first screening task is "Letter Sound," which tests graphophonemic knowledge. The teacher will assess Sarah's ability to identify letter names and letter-sound relationships. All assessments include instructions to support the teacher in administering the tasks.
